Tricks and Treats in the Kitchen

Y’all, Halloween is coming up quick! Costumes, spooky decor, and best of all, TREATS! We’re all about traditions, family, and enjoying food so Halloween checks off a LOT of boxes around here. One tradition we have is running to the store on Halloween afternoon to find a bag of candy to hand out because we’ve inevitably eaten all the bags we purchased earlier in the month. Whoopsie!

Another tradition is to have pizza for dinner to make sure our bellies are full before going all out in the sugar department. Sometimes we make pizza from scratch, other times we order delivery, but regardless of how much energy was put into the pizza, we always use one trick to take it to the next level: flavor infused oil! Drizzle it on the pizza when it’s piping hot to release the flavor, brush some on the crust, and you’ve just upgraded big time with minimal effort! Read on for a couple more quick and easy kitchen tricks & treats, because at Sonoma Harvest, we’re living our best Halloween life and don’t think you should have to choose over the other.

 

 

🎃TRICK: Upgrade that Ramen!

Add some kick to that ramen, friend. You deserve it. Whether you prefer making it from scratch or reliving your college days with an instant option, kick the heat up a notch by tossing in a splash of Harissa Olive Oil!

Can’t stand the heat? No need to get out of the kitchen. Try a richly flavored option like this Herbes de Provence Olive Oil instead!

 

 


 

 

🍫TREAT: Honey Apple Crisp

Nothing says Halloween like bobbing for apples! Before the party, pick up a few extras to throw together this simple Honey Apple Crisp recipe and take it to the next level by drizzling some of our signature wildflower honey over the crunchy, warm topping!

🎃TRICK: Give your garlic bread a kick!

Pasta is often a dinner-on-the-fly meal around here. It’s one of those dishes that can be very basic, or really involved. Sometimes adding a flashy side helps to bring it to the next level so give this a try: drizzle some Roasted Jalapeño Olive Oil on your garlic bread right before you pop it in the oven.

Can you think of a single food that is more quintessentially “Halloween” than pumpkin? We whipped up (pun intended) a little recipe we think you’ll really like, using one of our seasonal jams. Spooky movie night? Grab your buttery popcorn, throw a few pretzels in, and the upgrade: 1 tablespoon of honey truffle dijon mustard. Sweet, salty, tangy…different!

🍫TREAT: A balsamic ice cream topping

This may be another one that only the most dedicated foodies are brave enough to try, but, TRUST US! The payoff is priceless! Just drizzle a little balsamic vinegar on top of your favorite ice cream. We especially love the combo of Blueberry White Balsamic Vinegar over a classic vanilla bean. The tartness of the vinegar and the richness of the ice cream comes together to create the perfect balance.

🎃TRICK: Next. Level. Pizza.

We talked about this earlier but it’s so coveted in our house that it feels worth repeating. You’d be hard-pressed to find a family that doesn’t love pizza. It’s SO versatile, from the toppings to the styles (classic, vegetarian, meat lovers, vegan, keto, gluten-free….) and it’s super accessible. There are fancy gourmet options, delivery, even frozen! And no matter which one you land on, this trick is going to make your pie stand out: flavor infused oil. As soon as it comes out of the oven (or gloriously arrives at your doorstep), drizzle some Garlic Truffle Oil over the toppings and grab a pastry brush, dip it in some Roasted Garlic Olive Oil, and paint the crust until the aroma takes over!
